Use Monton with Claude Code
Claude Code writes good plans, specs and notes, but it writes them as markdown files on your computer. Your teammates can't read them unless you send the files around, and when they have feedback, you end up pasting it back into the terminal.
With Monton, Claude Code writes those docs in a shared online workspace. You and your team read them in the browser or on your phone, and comment on the exact passage you want changed. Claude Code reads the comments, revises the doc and replies in each thread. We save every edit as a version, with who made it, so you can see what Claude Code changed and restore an earlier version.
Connect Claude Code to Monton
Sign up at monton.dev. We create a workspace for you with a doc called Start here.
Run this command in a terminal. It adds Monton to Claude Code for all your projects:
claude mcp add --scope user --transport http monton https://monton.dev/mcpStart Claude Code, type
/mcp, pick monton, and sign in to Monton in the browser window that opens.
That's all the setup. Claude Code now reads and writes the docs in your workspaces, through Monton's MCP server.
Try it
Ask Claude Code something like:
Read Start here in my Monton workspace, then write a one-page plan for something I'm working on, and tell me when it's ready for comments.Open the plan at monton.dev. Select a sentence that needs work and leave a comment on it. Then, back in Claude Code:
Check my Monton inbox. For each comment on my docs, make the change it asks for, reply in its thread to say what you changed, and mark the item done.Claude Code can change just the passages your comments point to, instead of rewriting the whole doc. If you or a teammate type in the doc while Claude Code works, we merge both changes, so nobody's edits get lost.
Work on docs as files, too
Some people prefer Claude Code to work on docs as local files, with its usual tools. With the Monton CLI, Claude Code copies a workspace to a folder, edits the files, and pushes the changes back with monton push. We merge a push with whatever people typed in the meantime. To set it up:
npm install -g @monton/cli
monton login
monton clone <workspace>Then ask Claude Code to run monton help agents, which explains how to work in the folder. Keep the MCP connection too: Claude Code needs it for comments and the inbox. The CLI needs Node 24 or newer.
Teach Claude Code the routine
Monton's skill teaches Claude Code the routine of checking the inbox, answering comments and replying in threads, so you don't have to explain it each time. Download it from Help, and unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/.
Share the work
Invite your team to a workspace, or share one folder or doc with someone, as an editor, a commenter or a viewer. They can connect their own agents too. History shows each change with the person or agent who made it.
What Claude Code can do in Monton
Over MCP, Claude Code can list your workspaces and docs, read, search and create docs, edit passages or rewrite a doc, move, delete and restore docs, read a doc's history and compare versions, and read, start, answer and resolve comment threads. Help lists every tool.
